Influence of whitening additives on the properties of decorative slag-alkali cements and mortars

The paper shows a comparative study of the influence whitening additives (kaolin, TiO2 and СаСО3) on production decorative alkali-activated slag cement mortars with degree whiteness at least 70%; as well their structure formation evolution physico-mechanical properties. According to results obtained, kaolin provides chemical bonding Na+ into insoluble zeolite-like compounds; CaCO3 densifies reduces shrinkage deformations. At early stages hardening (up 7 days), additions calcite, due significant amount (15 24%), compressive strength paste; nevertheless, later ages (until 90 days) difference in almost disappears. high colourfastness weather resistance pigmented cements under ultraviolet radiation freeze/thaw cycles has been established. A assessment economic efficiency shown that СаСО3 is best cost-effective additive.
